Jane's Addiction Going Into the Studio?

Who would have thought when I glanced through the music headlines this morning that I would see a brief blurb about Jane's Addiction supposedly returning to the studio... all of them, the original line up.

No New Featured Album this Month

in

Hello everyone, early 2010 is proving to be a busy time here at the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll.

New content is on the way, no worries. I was planning a really great new Rock and Roll feature too, but in writing it I decided that I really wanted to do a little more research and make sure I did it right. It is taking longer than expected though, so I've decided to postpone it until next month.

Carnival of Rock and Roll–January 2010

It's Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll time again... the very first carnival of 2010. This month will be another more mellow carnival (at least compared to come of the massive ones of the past), but I'm not complaining. There were lots of interesting things submitted and I really enjoyed taking a read.

Merry Christmas 2009 from the Soul of Rock and Roll

Just want to wish everyone out there in Internet-land a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Better Than Ezra Still Puts on a Pretty Fun Live Show

Never one to pass up a good concert if I have any choice in the matter, I have once again been attending musical events with vigor. This time it was a band that I've seen a few times before and they've always put on a good, fun, high energy show: Better Than Ezra.

First Track from the Smashing Pumpkins Epic, Teargarden By Kaleidoscope

During the time the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll was being redesigned and reborn, there was a lot of music news that I didn't get to discuss. One of the most exciting (at least for a big Pumpkins fan like me) was the announcement that the Smashing Pumpkins would be releasing their next album, a 44 song epic called Teargarden By Kaleidoscope would be released a song at a time online.

Rock and Roll Feature: 30 Years of London Calling and the Clash

This is the thirty-second in a series of Rock & Roll features I'm writing for this site. I'm a rock and roller, so this column is a way for me to feature a different album that I like, from different genres every month.

Carnival of Rock and Roll-December 2009

Well last month with the return to regular carnivals, we had the biggest carnival I've ever seen... and this month, perhaps ironically, we have the smallest. In fact, the carnival this month contained so few submissions I thought I forgot to make it available on BlogCarnival.com, but I didn't. I thought maybe there were problems with my carnival email, but there aren't.

The Mars Volta, an Incredible Live Experience

It was well over two months ago that I was lucky enough to see this band live. I meant to write a review almost immediately, but between site overhauls, other issues and a series of delays, this is the first time I'm actually getting around to doing so properly. Consider it a testament to how much I enjoyed this show that I'm still writing a review so much later.

The Mars Volta Tear it Up Live With Rapid Fire Psychedelic Style

A few months prior... before the site overhaul, many unique circumstances and many many more delays, I went to a concert. That by itself is not all that uncommon as I go to a number of concerts every year and will certainly go to more every year in the future.
