Happy Thanksgiving from the Soul of Rock and Roll

in

Well, it's Thanksgiving time again here in the States, and we're celebrating as expected... way too much food, some football and good times for all... who knows, maybe even some rockin' music along the way too.

Anyways, just want to wish everyone out there a happy Thanksgiving. Try not too eat too much, or if you do, work off those extra calories by putting on some of your favorite tunes and rockin' out.

Take care,

D.A.N.

The Dividing of the Pumpkins Fans, Part 4: Thoughts On the Role of the Artist, and the Artist/Fan Relationship

This is part 4 of a 4 part piece I am writing, inspired by a pair of Smashing Pumpkins concerts and a DVD documentary. As you may or may not know, I am a big Smashing Pumpkins fan, I always appreciate their work. I feel the need to preface this piece by saying that as it will give you an insight into the context of my commentary.

It's been something of a Smashing Pumpkins month for me. In addition to back to back concert events, I also picked up a copy of the band's most recent DVD release: If All Goes Wrong.

Rock and Roll Feature: The White Album, Part 2

This is the twenty-second in a series of Rock & Roll features I'm writing for this site. I'm a rock and roller, so this column is a way for me to feature a different album that I like, from different genres every month.

Ok, so in part one of this feature, we discussed the first 17 tracks of the Beatles epic double album known affectionately as the "White Album". Now we will continue with the remainder of this musical masterpiece to celebrate the 40th anniversary of it's release this month.

Carnival of Rock and Roll - November 2008

Although it was a little delayed this month due to a technical problems and all the election coverage here in the United States, I'm still excited to bring you this month's Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll. Lots of great contributions this month, so lets get to it right away.

The Soul of Rock and Roll Congradulates President-Elect Barack Obama

in

Although this is almost completely unrelated to music or rock and roll, this is truly a historic moment and I just wanted to take a moment to offer congratulations to both of the presidential candidates here in the USA. Both had great campaigns and fought hard right till the end.

I'd also like to offer addition congratulations to the United States' next president: Barack Obama. You are an inspiration to so many people, not only within the US, but across the globe.

It is Election Day... Why Aren't You Out Voting?!

in

Well Happy Election Day to everyone here in the USA. It's exciting times in our country with two compelling candidates running. I'm not going to come out and say actively who I support, although you might be able to infer it if you read this site regularly... No, instead I'm just going to say... if you haven't already... GET OUT THERE AND GO VOTE!

That's all for today as I can't think of any good music for voting... John Lennon's "Power to the People" maybe? I guess that depends on whether you think your vote will actually make a difference or not... interesting.
