Thoughts on Jimmy Chamberlin Leaving the Smashing Pumpkins

Well perhaps you've heard on one of the major music sites around, it appears as if my beloved Smashing Pumpkins are once again going through a lineup change. It has been announced that Jimmy Chamberlin, original drummer and only original member in the band since the "reunion" other than Billy Corgan, has left the band.

How Music Works Video Series

Music is an interesting art form no matter if we're talking about rock and roll or the works of Mozart. There are underlining threads that tie just about every musical style, genre and artist together at the most basic of levels. The concept of notes melody, harmony and rhythms... not necessarily the same set of notes, divisions, rhythms or types of harmony, but the concepts are always there in all forms of music. It's carnival time again here at the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll. Some really good contributions this month... but then again, this carnival is kind of lucky and gets good responses every month.

So, without further ado, here's the March 2009 Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll.

To start out, we have Jonathon from Liberal England who takes a look at one of the all time great (and one of my personal favorite) "Super Groups", Blind Faith, here: Blind Faith: Under my Thumb
