in

Just a quick note to say that I've decided to extend the deadline for this months Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll. Just didn't think there was enough of interest to really merit a full carnival this month, so we'll let it go for another month and see what turns up.

March 2011 Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll Postponed

in

Unfortunately it looks as if we're going to have to postpone the carnival of Rock 'n' Roll for this month... personally I blame real life most of all.

It's ok though as this gives plenty of time to accumulate more interesting posts from more interesting places. The next carnival of rock and roll will run on April 1st... please stay tuned.

Take care,

Queens of the Stone Age Reissue Debut and Plan Tour

As someone who considers themselves something of a collector when it comes to music, there always seems to be an album or two that I can't seem to track down both in good condition and for a price I'm willing to pay.

Mourning the Passing of Gary Moore

Another sad piece of news from the music world this month: the passing from a heart attack of guitarist Gary Moore at the age of 58.

No More Music from the White Stripes

Sad news today from the world of rock and roll... The White Stripes, Jack and Meg White, have chosen to hang it up announcing that they're going to be leaving the legacy of the band as is, will not be recording or touring anymore and officially are calling it quits.

New Music from the Strokes on the Way

It's been a good 5 years since we had new music from the band that brought the sounds of 60s garage rock back to the mainstream, but they're coming back with new music this spring. That's right, the Strokes have recently announced that their new album, tentatively titled “Angels”, is supposed to be released March 21 2011.

Carnival Pushed Back for December 2010

in

Well I decided to push this month's carnival back and start fresh come 2011, due to time constraints and a number of things out of my control at the moment.

Nothing serious, but time consuming.

Anyways, the next Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll will be published in January 2011, including posts submitted for the most recently carnival. Please visit Blogcarnival.com

Take care,

Can Facebook Bring John Cage's 4 Minutes and 33 Seconds of Silence to the Top of the UK Charts?

I think it's nice to see some forms of what could be called “unique protest” out their in the music scenes today... protests against the mediocrity that's being released in so many cases.

October Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll Extended

in

After much deliberation and some major headaches, I decided to extend this month's carnival to next month. Posts submitted last month, will be included with those submitted this month.

More Delays

Well unfortunately there's been some unfortunate things going on recently that have kept me from writing for the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll... a shame, a definite shame, but this month I'm hoping to get back to working on this this month... cheers all around.
