The Soul of Rock and Roll Welcomes the New President of the United States: President Obama

in

It's been quite a historic day here in the States. Fittingly the day after we take a holiday to remember Dr. Martin Luther King, the first African American President, Barack Obama, was sworn into office... and there was much rejoicing across the world.

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day from the Soul of Rock and Roll

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day as today is the day we celebrate this great hero of the Civil Rights movement here in the States. In these trying times I think it's even more important than ever to keep the ideals of Dr. King in mind so that we can all learn to live together, peaceful, respectful of each of our differences.

Happy New Year from the Soul of Rock and Roll 2009

in

Well, it seems like only yesterday it was 2008... and actually it was. Yep, another hectic, but productive year in the books, and a new one already underway. It's looking to be an exciting musical year in 2009, and so the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll is going to start if off right with a the first Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll in the next few days... so make sure to check back.

Here's hoping everyone out there had a safe New Years Eve, had fun and is ready to start a new year.

Happy New Years from the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll.

Take care,

Merry Christmas from the Soul of Rock and Roll

in

Hey everyone. If you happen to celebrate some of the more well known holidays like I do, then today just so happens to be Christmas, and so I'd like to take a moment to wish everyone out there a very Merry Christmas, or just a simple Happy Holidays should Christmas not be your holiday of choice this December.

Things have been a bit more hectic than a would have liked this month, but it's looking like 2009 will be a great year for the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll, as well as for music in general.

Once again, have a Merry Christmas, and a Happy Holiday.

Take care,

D.A.N.

Upcoming Carnival of Rock and Roll 2009

in

Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I've decided to postpone this month's Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll. Don't worry, if you submitted material, it was not lost and will be included in next month's carnival.

This will make the first Carnival of 2009, the biggest carnival yet. It will be published promptly on January 1st, 2009. Although you have the entire month of December to submit something, don't hesitate to send something over as soon as possible.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Soul of Rock and Roll

in

Well, it's Thanksgiving time again here in the States, and we're celebrating as expected... way too much food, some football and good times for all... who knows, maybe even some rockin' music along the way too.

Anyways, just want to wish everyone out there a happy Thanksgiving. Try not too eat too much, or if you do, work off those extra calories by putting on some of your favorite tunes and rockin' out.

Take care,

D.A.N.

The Soul of Rock and Roll Congradulates President-Elect Barack Obama

in

Although this is almost completely unrelated to music or rock and roll, this is truly a historic moment and I just wanted to take a moment to offer congratulations to both of the presidential candidates here in the USA. Both had great campaigns and fought hard right till the end.

I'd also like to offer addition congratulations to the United States' next president: Barack Obama. You are an inspiration to so many people, not only within the US, but across the globe.

It is Election Day... Why Aren't You Out Voting?!

in

Well Happy Election Day to everyone here in the USA. It's exciting times in our country with two compelling candidates running. I'm not going to come out and say actively who I support, although you might be able to infer it if you read this site regularly... No, instead I'm just going to say... if you haven't already... GET OUT THERE AND GO VOTE!

That's all for today as I can't think of any good music for voting... John Lennon's "Power to the People" maybe? I guess that depends on whether you think your vote will actually make a difference or not... interesting.

Carnival Rescheduled for Nov 6th

in

Sorry folks, there's been a few technical problems here at the Soul of Rock 'n' Roll these past few days and they've prevented me from getting to the Carnival of Rock 'n' Roll contributions as early as I would like. Not to worry, I did receive everything that was submitted though so the carnival will run as planned, just delayed a few days.
